Veneers are a versatile cosmetic dentistry treatment that can be used for a wide variety of issues. They are also very popular because of their versatility, as well as because they are much less invasive than many other dental treatments. In fact, some types of veneers are so thin they require no restructuring of the underlying tooth.
What Issues Can Be Treated with Veneers?
Veneers can be used to treat almost any cosmetic issue that affects the surface of the tooth. They can also be used to disguise problems in tooth size or spacing, as long as those problems are not causing malocclusion. A consultation with our dentist will help you decide if a veneer is the best treatment option for your teeth.

Some of the issues veneers are used to treat include:
- Severe discoloration
- Chips or cracks
- Surface pitting
- Minor gaps
- Minor misalignment
- Misshapen teeth
- Asymmetrical teeth
Veneers are custom-made based on casts our dentist makes of your teeth. They are also color-matched so they won’t look out of place next to your other teeth. Because they are made of porcelain, they even reflect light much like your untreated teeth do. These qualities make veneers one of the most natural-looking restorations available.
How Veneers Are Placed
Typically, a veneer is placed in a two-step process. This begins when our dentist makes casts of your teeth and prepares them for your veneers. In most cases, the dentist will remove a thin layer of enamel from the tooth surface to make room for the veneer. Some veneers, however, are so thin they do not require any preparation and can be affixed directly to the surface of the tooth.
After the tooth is prepared, our dentist will cover it with a temporary veneer. This veneer will protect the tooth until your final, custom-made veneers are finished. These are typically constructed in a special lab and take two or three days to complete. When they are finished, they’ll be permanently affixed to your teeth, giving you a fresh, new look and a perfect smile.
